Prof. The Right Hon. Lord Newborough FRAgS is founder of Rhug Organic and associated companies based in North Wales. Rhug Estate is a highly sustainable business involved in organic faming, green energy generation, retailing and wholesaling. Its brand name can be found on some of the most important menus in London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and UAE countries. Rhug is the only Farm in the country to be awarded the Royal Warrant. Lord Newborough was made an honorary professor of Glyndwr University, Wrexham for his contributions to the environment. Prior to farming other business interests included running and Owning an Air Charter Company out of Heathrow, Wynn Electronics manufacturing high tech printed circuit boards for the space and defence industry, and fishery protection in West Africa.

What is the best part of your job?

Working with the environment, knowing that what we are doing is going to provide a more healthy and sustainable world for the next generation.

What is the hardest thing you have ever done – your greatest challenge

To convince others that what you eat is what you are, and paying a bit more your for your food has far reaching benefits for health and the environment.

How do you define success?

For me, success is about doing my job well. I want to be recognised as someone who always does their best and is able to lead by example and take my team along with me.

What are you working on now that you are excited about?

Using the Rhug brand and Ethos to create an Organic and Natural body care range to be launched on a global basis in the Spring of 2020.

What are you grateful for?

To be able to live and work in Wales now rated to be in the top ten most beautiful countries in the world.

What is your bad day back up plan?

Thinking how lucky I am, to be positive and think how much more there is to do in life.

What advice would you give someone with a broken heart?

Love yourself as much as you can and realise that sometimes a breakup is a blessing in disguise, find new interests in life and focus on the positives of life. Take time to know yourself again and share the burden with your best friends.

What gives you goose bumps?

Seeing people in my team succeed and grow in statue.

What is a rule that is to be broken?

Not always to obey.

Who inspires you most?

Friends who have succeeded in life, Carole Bamford with Daylesford Organic, Charlie Rolls with Fever Tree, Johnny Goedhuis with Goedhuis and Co Fine Wine Merchants, and Nigel Hadden-Paton with radio H-P.

What woman has inspired you most and why?

My mother because of her unequivocal kindness and generosity to others.

 

PERSONAL HEALTHY LONGEVITY PROGRAM

  • EXERCISE: run 5 to 6 miles every day, hand weights exercises, crunches, press-ups and vibra plate every day.
  • MENTAL EXERCISE: Problem solving
  • DAILY SUPPLEMENTS: bespoke lozenges to balance any deficiencies, Nadhna constant energy tablets.
